lycotropal, a. Bot.
(laɪˈkɒtrəpəl)
[f. Gr. λύκο-ς ‘anything in the form of a hook’ (L. & Sc.) + -τροπ-ος turning + -al1.]
The term applied to an orthotropous ovule, curved downward in the form of a horse-shoe (Treas. Bot. 1866).
